About Me

Darren and I freezing our arses off at Ocean Beach in San Francisco, March 2009.

Hi, I’m Carrie–a Midwesterner living in London. In 2005, I fell in love with California. I graduated university, and had the perfect opportunity to escape the Midwest and embark on a new adventure. Even though I haven’t lived in the Golden State since 2009, I still have a great fondness for California. It’s where I met my husband, Darren, learned I absolutely adore cats, and to this day, it’s actually one of the only places that’s truly felt like home. I cannot wait to move back someday, and I hope you’re willing to tag along with me!

Since I started blogging in 2009, my blog has been mostly a personal blog–a diary, if you will. I started by writing about the food I was cooking when I lived in Menlo Park, California, then, when I moved to London, the tone of the blog changed quite significantly to reflect life as an American expat. I have Crohn’s disease, and in 2011, was hosptialized for three months because of the disease. I found blogging to be a great way to pass the time, and also to keep friends and family updated on my condition.

While I am still living in London, I will continue to post about expat life, but will also document my journey back to the states, and to the one place in the world I believe is truly magical, and a place I dream about on a daily basis–California.
